What You Should Know About Modern Breast Enlargement Surgery

Designed to increase the size of breasts that are small or underdeveloped (or improved the appearance of deformed or non-proportional busts), breast enlargement is sought as the leading solution for women eyeing bigger, fuller, and better lady blossoms. Surgery is perhaps the most popular method. Breast implants, for once, can serve a number of different other purposes, including reconstruction in breast cancer patients after mastectomy.

Breast implants are placed in a pocket either directly behind breast tissue, or underneath the pectoral muscle that is found between the breast tissue and chest wall. Each implant comes with a solid silicone rubber outer shell called a lumen. The size and type that's perfect for you will be determined by your breast augmentation goals, as discussed with your surgeon.

Two of the most popular breast implant types include:

1. Silicone filled implants. These are filled with soft elastic gel and are pre-filled. They may require a longer incision in order for implant placement to be possible.

2. Saline filled implants. These are filled with sterile saltwater and may be pre-filled to a desired size. However, they may also be filled during surgery in order for the surgeon to do any minor modification that's needed.

It is projected that in the future, additional types of fillers may be available due to technological and medical advancements. The industry also claims that surgical techniques employed to increase breast size are continually being refined to improve procedural safety and reliability.

As for the incisions made to put breast implants in place, they can be made either underneath the breast, above the crease, within the armpit, or around the lower edge of the areola. For instance, among the advantages of a saline-filled implant is that only a small incision is necessary. This is because it is filled with saltwater after being inserted. Usually a less-than-an-inch incision is made underneath the breast (just above the crease) where it is hardly noticeable. Another usual location for incision is around the areola's lower edge.

After the incision is made, the surgeon "carves out" a pocket into which the breast implant will be inserted. This pocket is created either underneath the pectoral muscle (located between the breast tissue and chest wall) or directly behind the breast tissue.

There are some things to remember, though. For one, breast implants are NOT guaranteed to last a lifetime. This means that you may need additional surgery sooner or later to correct leakage or other cosmetic issues. Breast implants may interfere with breast cancer screening as well.

Additionally, you may need routine MRI scans, and your implants may interfere in proper breastfeeding. On the financial front, your insurance may not cover breast implants - this only means that you may have to spend extra money for follow-up screening or corrective breast surgery.

However, your choices are no longer limited to breast implant surgery in order to increase breast size. There are breast enlargement pills and creams that have been promoted and widely used for natural breast enhancement therapy for women, especially as they offer a roster of secondary benefits like better pain management during PMS and menopause. Research very well to find the best option for you.
